Raven's Woods

Back to Western Maine Region

Location: Sumner

Year Acquired: 2025

Acreage: 135

Donor: Carol and David Barans

Description: This parcel is primarily forest with a maintained field that was once part of a farm.

Key Features: The parcel is 135 acres and like many woodlots in Maine, had once been a farm. The donors have created multiple trails and conducted a timber harvest in 2020. The donors chose the name Raven’s Woods as a nod to the birds and wildlife who live there. With the Nezinscot River serving as the parcel’s western boundary, this conservation effort protects a pristine watershed.
