Norm Nelson Forest

Back to Western Maine Region

Location: Porter

Year Acquired: 2014

Acreage: 50

Donor: The Nelson/Hutt Family in Memory of Norman Nelson

Description: This property can be accessed from the Spec Pond Road in Porter. The nicely wooded lot lies adjacent to Fox Creek, one of the boundaries, and in the shadow of Rattlesnake Mountain and Stacey Hill.

Key Features: The woodlot offers challenging hikes with steep terrain and rocky outcroppings. There are a number of tree species growing on the property including some maturing rock maple. The property was once part of a much larger tract and may someday be reconnected to some of the properties that once comprised the larger parcel.
