Year Acquired: 2018
Acreage (approx): 80
Donor: Ed and Joan Wardwell
Description: This 80 acre Wardwell Family lot lies in the south central portion of the Town of Penobscot between State Routes 166 to the west and 199 to the east.
Key Features: The property was donated to Maine Woodland Owners in 2018 by Ed Wardwell who wished to maintain the lot as a working forest. Wildlife is especially important to Ed so any future management will certainly include wildlife habitat as a primary objective.

Tilley Family Forest
Location: Van Buren
Year Acquired: 2018
Acreage (approx): 72
Donor: Frank Tilley and Family
Description: Typical of many parcels in the St. John Valley, this lot is long and narrow. The woodlot is situated near the northwest corner of the Town of Van Buren. It lies directly along the northwesterly side of the Parent Road, offering very good access for future management.
Key Features: The property was donated to Maine Woodland Owners in 2018 by Frank Tilley who wished to maintain the lot as a working forest. Public access, prohibited development and wildlife habitat are very important to Frank so any future management will certainly include wildlife habitat as an objective.
The woodlot contains a red pine stand planted in the late 70’s that is mature and doing well today. There are also scattered white pine and spruce throughout the lot. Also evident on the property are two distinct wetlands. The terrain is steep in places but the entire property is operable with some good planning. Harvesting will likely be best scheduled in the winter.
