Blethen Woods

Back to Downeast Region

Location: Ellsworth

Year Acquired: 2020

Acreage: 120

Donor: Larry and Elaine Blethen

Blethen Woods was donated by Larry and Elaine Blethen in September 2020. The family purchased the 120 acre property in the early 1950s as a way to keep this lakeside forested parcel intact and protected from becoming building lots.

The terrain includes a 15 - 20 acre marsh, but is otherwise dry and rolling, though boulders are quite common. Timber is varied but dominated by red maple, pine, spruce, and poplar, however, the largest trees tend to be spruce and pine.
